This was a commission by a psychology major who was very particular about what they wanted. This version of the Joker is taking a bit from both the comics and the Dark Knight film.
I have been working on this off and on for about a year and it represents an interesting point in time with my art where I am starting to blend traditional methods with digital. Although the final print would be considered digital, a lot of the drawing process was completed using traditional methods and then working further on the piece digitally using Adobe Photoshop. So it was difficult to put this in a particular category. I would like to call it "Tradigital' if there was such a thing.
Feedback on what works and doesn't work would be greatly appreciated.
Mixed Media -Colored Conte, Tria Markers, Pantone pens, pencil crayon and then worked further with Adobe Photoshop CS5
Out-freakin-standing dude! This really displays the bloody side that Joker isn't often shown as. The clown prince of crime is depraved in every sense of the word and a few 'surgeries' here and there are probably on his resume of worst moments! I love the whole feel of the image. Everything bloody and he's still keeping that grin on. It may have been in his character though to draw a smile on the mask before the surgery too now that I think of it though. Either way, I'm blown away! Joker has rarely looked this good!!
Hey thanks for the kind words. I chalk his lack of smile drawn on his mask to the fact that he was probably just too excited to get into the surgery. Only when he looked in the mirror did he realize it was time to put a smile on the face. Glad you liked it.
